The Golfsmith store is scheduled for a June 2003 opening in Continental Park at 2041 Rosecrans Ave. in a street-front retail space. It will be what Robert Tarnofsky, director of real estate for Continental Development Corp., describes as a super store that will carry professional lines of golf equipment and accessories, shoes, clothing, custom-made clubs, a repair shop, and practice aids such as a putting green and a computerized swing analyzer as well as an indoor water feature and a wall of TV sets tuned to the latest golf news and tournaments.
Austin, TX-based Golfsmith Golf Center was represented by Vic Montalbo of Epsteen & Associates in Santa Monica, with Scott Manclark and Dave Binney of Cypress Retail Group in Culver City representing El Segundo-based Continental in the $4-million., long-term lease.
Golfsmith, founded in 1967, says it is the single largest customer of every major vendor of golf merchandise including Callaway, Taylor Made, Cobra, Titleist and Foot-Joy. Continental Development Corp.'s flagship property, a three-million-sf campus-style office, retail and entertainment complex.
