Houston-based Riba Foods purchased 3.5 acres at the intersection of Park West Drive and Gillingham Lane in Sugar Land Business Park. Riba, now at 3735 Arc St. in southwest Houston, is under an agreement to build a new headquarters in three years. The location's proximity to major transportation arteries and a strong local workforce were driving considerations for the final decision.
Riba will use the site to produce and distribute fire-roasted products such as salsas and picante sauces. The firm also makes Bloody Mary and margarita mixes and other foods and condiments.
In First Colony, AOR Real Estate Inc. bought 3.4 acres for a 16,000-sf building that will house the Texas Oncology Cancer Center Sugar Land, an affiliate of Houston-based US Oncology. Before the month ends, construction will begin on the tract, which fronts Texas 6 North Commercial. The single-story structure, which delivers in the fall, will be the cancer care network's eighth location in Houston.
Don Janssen Jr., Sugarland Properties' senior vice president, brokered both land sales. Mark Nicholas of Dallas-based Staubach Co.'s Houston office represented Riba Foods while US Oncology's negotiations were handled by Thomas Alexander in CB Richard Ellis Inc.'s Houston office.
