The new store, which involves substantial new construction and site work, is being developed by Vornado Realty Trust of Paramus, NJ. Perhaps better known for its sizeable holdings of Manhattan office buildings, Vornado has a substantial portfolio of retail properties, mostly strip shopping centers, in the Garden State and elsewhere.
The approved site plan calls for some 730 parking spaces for the new store, as well as extensive landscaping. Located adjacent to the Hudson Mall and, not surprisingly, near a rival Home Depot unit, the Lowe's project will bring some 250 jobs to the community, according to the developer's application.
