"Boston is one of the most exciting, vibrant and historic cities in the world. We look forward to becoming a member of this great community," says Scott Livengood, Krispy Kreme's chairman, president and CEO. He notes that the chain's initial openings in New England--both in Connecticut and Rhode Island--were "extremely well received."
A spokesperson for the company tells GlobeSt.com that there are plans for more stores in the state. "This definitely won't be the only store in Massachusetts," she says.
Krispy Kreme, founded in 1937, currently operates more than 290 stores in 39 states as well as in Canada and Australia. Each of its stores allows customers to watch doughnuts being made through the glass viewing area.
