Shipman & Goodwin LLP has already taken occupancy of its new offices on the third floor of 300 Atlantic St., a 13-story, 272,458-sf office building in the heart of the downtown district.

Jeffrey P. Williams and John P. Hannigan, principal of Choyce Peterson Inc., of Stamford and White Plains, NY, represented Shipman & Goodwin in the transaction. Margaret Carlson of Equity Office Properties represented the building owner in the deal.

Shipman & Godwin is one of Connecticut's largest law firms with offices in Greenwich, Stamford, Hartford, and Lakeville. The practice has more than 125 attorneys and more than 190 paralegal, professional and support staff. The firm has six departments: Business and Finance, Labor and Employment, Litigation, Real Estate, Tax and Trusts and Estates.

"In this market there are a number of opportunities for tenants," Choyce Peterson's Williams notes. "As a result we were able to leverage this transaction in what has become a 'tenant friendly' market. We evaluated and toured many Class A office buildings in downtown Stamford." Williams adds that Equity Office Properties was also able to structure "an aggressive leasing package" for the law firm.
