Construction has begun on a one-acre site in the Woodlands for a Popeye's Chicken & Biscuits. The tract is located along Panther Trails Drive in the Village of Panther Creek. Greg Jordan, director of commercial sales for the Woodlands Operating Co., brokered the deal for the Woodlands.

A Woodlands contact tells GlobeSt.com that an opening is planned for late September for a restaurant of about 1,500 sf on a pad site in a center with a service station, Taco Bell and mini-storage facility. The Atlanta-based Popeye's has at least 45 Houston-area locations.

The Popeye's location is part of a community services-oriented retail corridor. The Woodlands has been hawking development land for an average of $8.72 per sf.

In the northwest sector, 3.8 acres have been sold to a developer of self-storage facilities. The tract is situated at the intersection of FM 1960 and Fallbrook Drive. Kersi Engineer, president of Houston-based 24-Hour Self Storage, handled its side of the talks for the buyer of record, FM1960/Fallbrook Storage LP while Keith Grothaus of Houston-based Caldwell Watson Real Estate Group negotiated the terms for the seller, Terry W. Ward, trustee.
