Steven Hogberg and Trey Trask, both with Coreland Cos. in Tustin, represented the buyer, which is a popular surf industry maker and marketer of surf-wear, surfboards and accessories plus sells mountain-wear. Hogberg says Rip Curl will build a headquarters building on the site in the San Clemente Business Park, a 40-acre, master-planned business park that is located off Avenida Fabricante and Calle Extremo.
Hogberg says Rip Curl firm looked at more than 20 sites in Orange County, including vacant land, existing buildings for sale or lease and build-to-suit opportunities before deciding to buy land and build. Rip Curl plans to build a facility of approximately 80,000 sf and vacate its current facilities in Carlsbad. The company acquired the land parcel from San Clemente Business Park LLC, with Jon Marchiorlatti of CB Richard Ellis Inc. in Newport Beach representing the seller.
