"It is huge to have the center," Joyce Alms-Ransford, executive director of Rocky Mountain HDC tells GlobeSt.com."We were struggling to come up with the funds to pay for it," she says. "We were skimping and struggling to come up with the money and we weren't sure we were going to be able to afford it. We had already decided to scrap the swimming pool at the Arapahoe Green Town homes in favor of the community center. "
Shaw Construction was the general contractor for the 60-unit Arapahoe Green Town Homes and "in the spirit of giving back to the community, they decided to gift the cost of the new construction of the new Family Community Building," Alms-Ransford says.
She notes that David Nestor, owner of Foothills Lighting, who sits on Rocky Mountain HDC's board, donated all of the light fixtures, worth more than $60,000, to the community.
Arapahoe Green consists of 60 townhouses--30 two-bedroom units and 30 three-bedroom units. The units are reserved for families with incomes at or below 60% of the area median income, or ranging from $5,000 for a family of two to $38,000 for a family of four.
