The first acquisition is at 1330 Soldier's Field Rd. which is about 16,000 sf and has a 4,000-sf facility on its site. The building is currently being used as the Bickford's Family Restaurant headquarters. The second purchase is of contiguous parcels at 1284 Soldier's Field Rd. and 415 Western Ave. The properties are 82,000 sf and are used by the Algonquin Gas transmission Co.

Lauren Marshall, a spokesperson for the university, tells GlobeSt.com that the university currently has no plans for the properties and that both tenants will continue to occupy the parcels. She notes that Harvard's policy is to look at any available property that is brought to its attention.

Harvard's real estate policy recently made headlines when the university offered the Massachusetts Turnpike Authority $75 million for 91 acres in Allston that contained some key rail yards. The university also acquired the 750,000-sf Arsenal on the Charles in Watertown a little over two years ago.
