"These grants improve the quality of life of individuals and families through better housing and through improvements to community infrastructure," Stabenow said. "These grant programs are important to the revitalization of Michigan's communities, large and small."
"Community facilities are an important part of any neighborhood," said Levin. "These grants will go a long way in helping the residents."
The grants were given to the Saginaw Chippewa Tribe of Michigan, for purposes as described in the Indian Housing Plan ($1 million), the Saginaw Chippewa Tribe of Michigan, for construction of facilities for the Victims of Crime Program. ($402,369), the City of St. Ignace, for construction of a public library ($223,537), the National Center for Manufacturing Sciences in Ann Arbor for facilities construction ($223,537) and the Virginia Park Community Investment Inc., of Detroit for renovations of the Virginia Park Shopping Center ($268,245).
