Robbins, also named a principal of the firm, will be responsible for expanding Fifields West Coast operations, overseeing land acquisitions, and development and construction activities. He will also add staff to support the growth of the company, according to Steve Fifield, president and founder of Fifield Cos., a real estate investment trust that focuses on multifamily development.

Fifield is one of the Midwest's largest residential and commercial high rise developers, which is already under way on a project called The Californian on Wilshire, a $170 million, 23-story luxury residential building that Fifield is developing in a joint venture with Los Angeles-based developer California Landmar, Robbins, when he headed BRE's Southern California operations, was responsible for the completion and delivery of nearly 1,000 units of multifamily housing valued at $160 million, as well as a current development and construction pipeline of approximately $320 million worth of multifamily projects with an excess of 1,500 units. Before his post with BRE Properties, Robbins was an SVP of development for KSL Development Corp., a developer, owner and operator of hotels and destination resorts.

Founded in 1977, Fifield has developed more than $2 billion in residential, office and hotel properties.
