Locating a regional office in this northwest suburb putsSeefried Properties near its first project in the market, a36,000-sf build-to-suit freight transfer facility for ABF FreightSystem next to O'Hare International Airport. Seefried Properties isteaming with San Francisco-based AMB Property Corp. on the$6.9-million project at 400 E. Touhy Ave., less than a mile fromits office at 1011 E. Touhy Ave. President and CEO FerdinandSeefried adds his company is targeting the O'Hare submarket, whichaccording to Grubb & Ellis research has an 8.3% vacancy ratewith 191,356 sf under construction, for US and Europeancustomers.

However, Phillips says he is looking at several other submarketsfor development and redevelopment opportunities, and vows tocooperate with brokers. "I think Chicago's industrial brokeragecommunity will find Seefried broker-friendly, uncomplicated andvery responsive," he says.

Phillips has overseen the development of five million sf ofspeculative and build-to-suit manufacturing and distributionfacilities worth $400 million.
