Hendy, which was retained by Pacific Life for space planning and design, notes that the new facility showcases a 30-inch tall bronze statue of the insurer's blue whale mascot in a prominent niche in the building's lobby. Principal Kerry Wilson of Hendy led the design effort, which not only included space planning for the facility's offices but also involved configuring a learning center to divide into two training rooms and other client requirements including a room to accommodate nursing mothers, a cafe, an employee meeting room and showers.
The newly completed headquarters is a five-story building near the corner of Main Street and Von Karmen Avenue in the Main Corporate Center at 2300 Main St. It consolidates three separate facilities from Fountain Valley and Huntington Beach where the Group Insurance Division had been located for 22 years.
According to earlier reports on GlobeSt.com, the insurance company inked a 10-year lease for its space in the building, which was developed by Layton-Belling & Associates and designed by Langdon Wilson architects.
