LGE Design/Build filed the lawsuit Sept. 2 against Sun Systems Inc. and company president Thomas Bohner in Maricopa County Superior Court in an effort to get Sun Systems to remove the 40-foot by 5-foot sign mounted on top of its 2030 W. Pinnacle Peak Rd. building. LGE claims in its lawsuit that the sign, which reads in "LGE Design/Build" in large black letters and the words "Did Me Wrong" in large red letters along with Bohner's phone number, "implies and is reasonably understood by the public to mean that LGE was dishonest or lacks business integrity."

LGE's attorney, Jeffrey Messing declined to talk about the lawsuit and Lanell Beemis, LGE's CFO, said the firm would have no comment. "We would just like to remain silent right now," she says.

Bohner, whose firm used LGE to build two of its properties, tells GlobeSt.com that he had the sign erected to express his frustration over his dealings with the build-to-suit company. "I bought one LGE building and built another one and I have some beefs with the way I was treated. This is the way I chose to vent my frustrations," he says.

Bohner declined to discuss specific reasons for his displeasure with LGE, saying he was under a temporary restraining order, but indicated that it had to do with the way he was treated following the construction of the Pinnacle Peak Road property. "I wasn't happy with the whole process and how I was treated," he says. "I can't get into specifics other than to say I am not a happy camper."

In its lawsuit, LGE claims the sign has prompted numerous phone calls from bankers, real estate brokers, customers and potential customers "inquiring and expressing concern about the statement." The firm claims the sign also has interfered with its business relationships and is seeking injunctive relief to have it removed.
