Supervalu also recently announced it is closing its Cub Foods store in nearby Oshkosh, WS. The exit from the market appears to be in reaction to increased competition from new Wal-Mart Supercenter and Festival Foods stores.

The Menasha store at 1151 Midway Road, which is three years old, will be changed to a Piggly Wiggly store and will replace an existing Piggly Wiggly location less than a half-mile away at 1700 Appleton Road. Piggly Wiggly will purchase inventory and equipment and lease the Menasha space from Supervalu.

Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Sheboygan-based Fresh Brands is a supermarket retailer and wholesaler operating stores under the Piggly Wiggly and Dick's Supermarkets brands. The company has 73 franchised supermarkets and 29 corporate-owned stores.
