The building is located in the city's North End neighborhood near the financial district and adjacent to the new Rose Kennedy Greenway, which is slated for completion by 2005 and is being created by the Big Dig. The renovation of the remaining part of the building involves a mixed-use project being done by Intercontinental Real Estate and consists of 250,000 sf of office and retail space.

The Carlyle Group and the J.S. Karlton Company are developing the residential portion which was designed by David Hacin of Hacin + Associates and Dennis Duffy of Duffy Design Group. The project is being marketed by Otis & Ahearn.

In a release Carlyle and Karlton acknowledge that the firms are investing in a neighborhood that is in the process of being transformed. "With the new Rose Kennedy Greenway and Portal Park at your doorstep, soon this neighborhood will rival any other in terms of aesthetics, amenities and open space," notes Philip D. Restifo, president of J.S. Karlton.
