Cline expects to build the Renaissance ClubSport Hotel at a busy Chandler Boulevard corner adjacent to the Chandler Fashion Center and Loop 101 freeway in a booming area that is lacking in lodging accommodations. "It's actually considered one of the top hospitality sites in the nation for new construction, full-service conference hotels," Cline says.
In recent days, Cline purchased the 7.4-acre parcel for $7.3 million from California-based First American Title Insurance Co. He expects to begin construction on the four-star, 242-room hotel and 85,000-sf fitness center early next year. The hotel and fitness club will include a 3,000-sf spa, 12,000-sf fitness center, racquetball, squash, basketball and bocce courts, along with a Jacuzzi, sauna, steam rooms, pool, 7,000-sf kids club and a 10,000 sf conference center and restaurant. It is scheduled to open in summer 2005. Costs of the project have not been released.
Cline will own the property, which will be managed by Leisure Sports Inc. of Pleasanton, CA. The hotel, a brand of Marriott International Inc, will be the second Renaissance ClubSport in the country. The first opened in November in Walnut Creek, CA.The project will be the 11th hotel for Chandler, southeast of Phoenix, will be the second one to be built within a year. The Holiday Inn Ocotillo currently is under construction at Alma School and Ocotillo roads.
