The centerpiece of the project is a 70,000-sf building that features athletic facilities, a senior center, a teen center, meeting rooms, a 350-seat banquet room and a four-level children's play area. A bandshell and other facilities are also part of the project.

The construction firm on the project was Stahl Construction, who oversaw preliminary and final budgets, put together packages on which contractors could bit, recommended certain contractors and wrote contracts as part of its duties."Because so many types of spaces are offered, the 29 subcontractors selected had to be versed in multiple kinds of construction," says Mike Heffron, Stahl's project manager. The building itself cost $11.5 million.

Stahl also oversaw construction of the bandshell, which required 12 subcontractors.

Although Eagan voters had several times rejected funding a center, three years ago they finally approved a $15 million tax levy to help fund it.

Harry Hearn III was the construction manager with the City of Eagan, which acted as general contractor. The architects were the Minneapolis office of TDKA and Moody Nolan, based in Columbus, OH.

The landscaping was designed by Damon Farber Associates, a Minneapolis-based landscape architecture firm. One of the central features of the park is a 140-year-old oak tree that is called the "Grandfather Tree," which was moved to the community center's entryway.

Eagan Community Center is at 1501 Central Parkway near the intersection of Yankee Doodle and Pilot Knob roads.
