The drug store chain is expected to open the 14,000-sf stores in March 2004 at Indian School and Miller Roads in Scottsdale and Northern Crossing, a Wal-Mart Supercenter and Lowe's-anchored plaza at 59th Avenue and Northern. Construction on both properties is set to begin next month. "We have over 30 deals with stores that are opened, under construction or in escrow looking to close," Larry Ortega, with Colliers International, says of the firm's move into the Valley.
The Scottsdale store will be located on 2.8 acres of infill land purchased from Joe Song, Etal, of Phoenix for $3.7 million by Tampa, FL developer Orix Alliant. The Northern Crossing store will be located on 2.3 acres purchased from the Ellman Cos. for $1.5 million by Hunt/Douglas, also from Tampa.
Ortega represented the buyer in both transactions. Bill Wayland of the Ellman Cos. represented the seller in the Glendale deal while the seller of the Scottsdale parcel was self-represented.
