Prison Fellowship Ministries, an organization that partners with local churches and volunteers to counsel and help inmates and their families, is moving into an 18,892-sf building at 49 E. Thomas Rd. in a deal with building owner, AZ-Thomas Street LLC of Phoenix.

"It's a great deal," Laura Becker with Daum Commercial Real Estate tells GlobeSt.com of the group's $9 per sf lease. "You really couldn't get anything less in that area." Becker said the group selected the first floor for its general offices because of the property's central location.

The building, once primarily occupied by U-Haul, has been more than 50% vacant for several months when the do-it-yourself moving firm exited the second floor. The inbound non-profit took space on the first floor beside several others of its type and some small business tenants. Becker represented the building owner while Bill Mast with Johnson & Associates Commercial Real Estate in Phoenix bargained the terms for Prison Fellow Ministries.
