The Pleasanton, CA-based Roche Molecular, a division of global healthcare giant F. Hoffmann-LaRoche Ltd. of Switzerland, will use the new facility for office, research and manufacturing operations. The company will move its New Jersey operations here from Totowa.

Roche Molecular develops and produces molecular-based diagnostic tests and automated testing platforms for researchers, physicians, patients, hospitals and laboratories. The company is also the second major tenant--and second major biotech company--to move into Murray Corporate Center, a project of the Springfield, NJ-based Murray Construction Co. A little over two years ago, the LifeCell Corp., which is involved in regenerative tissue R&D, moved its headquarters into the 58,000 sf Branchburg I building.

According to Jeffrey J. Siegel, senior vice president at Murray, Roche Molecular is expected to be up and running in its new location during the first quarter of next year. The broker in the company's lease transaction was Daniel J. Loughlin, managing principal of the Staubach Co. in Murray Hill, NJ. No further details of the lease were disclosed.

Branchburg I and II, with their total of 140,000 sf of space, are the first two phases of a planned build-out of more than 800,000 sf at the 72-acre Murray Corporate Center, according to Siegel. Branchburg I was completed in 2000 and occupied shortly thereafter by LifeCell.

Designed by architect James Weill & Associates of Millburn, Branchburg II was completed on spec and placed on the market late last year. And, according to Siegel, "plans are now under way for Branchburg III."
