Cassidy is a former managing partner at Maxwell Batley and worked briefly for Olswang, as a consultant when it took over DJ Freeman's property team in March. He has more than 30 years experience as a property lawyer and has been involved in some of the largest institutional funding projects in the City. The former chairman of the Corporation of London's planning and policy and resources committees also holds non-executive directorships with British Land and UBS and is non-executive chairman of Hemingway, a role he has held since August.

The appointment reflects the strategy at Hammonds to grow its property and construction business.
