MacDonald joins Crown from Paul, Hastings, Janofsky & Walker LLP, where he served in the Orange County and Los Angeles offices of the Los Angeles-based law firm's real estate department.
Jaime Sohacheski and Robert Flaxman, chairman and president respectively of Beverly Hills- and Irvine-based Crown, say the hiring of MacDonald is a response to the continued increase in Crowns transactional activity and the complexity of related negotiations.
While with Paul Hastings, MacDonald focused primarily on the representation of developers, owners, investors and tenants.
Crown Realty & Development focuses on the acquisition, repositioning and renovation of retail, office and other commercial property types. The nine-year-old firm recently announced the formation of a hotel division that will focus solely on the acquisition and management of hotel properties ranging from 200 to 500 rooms, mainly in the class A category. The new division will add to a portfolio of properties owned by Crown and its affiliates that exceeds $450 million in value.
