The Tempe City Council is set to decide today whether to enter into negotiations with Southern California-based Big League Dreams USA to build a multi-use sports complex on 48 acres north of the Rio Salado Parkway and west of Priest Road. Big League Dreams, which operates eight similar facilities in California and one in Texas, has proposed a two-phase construction project to build six baseball or softball stadiums, four volleyball courts, eight soccer fields, a soccer stadium and an administration building on the site with a portion of the funding coming from the city. If the council approves the idea, it would take 90 days to investigate whether the proposal is feasible before bringing it back to city council for final approval.
