The initial phase encompasses 462 residential units in five separate townhouse and condo complexes integrated with open space and amenities, according to Sam Gershwin, president of Westminster Communities. So far, three of the complexes have names: the Admiral, the Bay View and the Catalina.
Besides the residential units, the initial phase also calls for the historic US Naval Reserve Training Center on the southern end of the 49-acre redevelopment area to be renovated and re-opened as the Landings' sales center, according to Gershwin.
The long-range plan for the redevelopment project carries a price tag of $600 million. To be developed in four phases over the next eight years, the Landings calls for 2,100 residential units, 150,000 sf of retail space, a marina and a hotel.
