"Jennifer Moulton was a great leader, visionary, and to me—-a teacher," Hickenlooper says. "She left Denver a much better place than she found it," Hickenlooper said. "We all miss Jennifer."

But he says he is honoring her legacy "by announcing a successor who is equally committed to the vision of a built environment that enhances our quality of life—-balancing design excellence, development needs and community desires. Denver is so fortunate to be gaining the talents and expertise of Peter Park. Together with the Planning Department's creative, dedicated staff, they as much as any of us, will ensure that as Denver grows, our quality of life is enhanced."

Park also will serve as an adjunct professor in the University of Colorado-Denver's College of Architecture and Planning, creating a partnership between the University and the city.
