The delivery company will leave behind 28,090 sf on the southwest side. In addition, some operations now performed in nearby Bedford Park will be shifted to McCook once the new building opens, which is scheduled in spring 2005.

Scannell Properties will own the new building and lease it to FedEx Corp. The building will be equipped with high-speed conveyors, including tunnels where packages will be electronically scanned.

For FedEx Corp., the project here is one of 10 new automated distribution hubs nationwide, including a 107,000-sf building in northwest suburban Wheeling.

Fischer & Co. brokered the deal.
