Glen Beer of Dunns West Los Angeles office says the land, adjacent to Tejon Ranch's Centennial Partners Project in the northwest portion of Los Angeles County, has been owned by descendents of Ralphs founder George A. Ralphs since 1898 and represents about four square miles of vacant land. Beer says the new owners plans for the property are undetermined.

The new Centennial development that the land is near was announced about a year ago when Tejon Ranch Co. and three prominent builders filed plans with Los Angeles County for a new community called Centennial that would be built on 11,700 acres of the 270,000-acre Tejon Ranch.

The new community is expected to include commercial and retail development, schools, libraries, entertainment centers and medical facilities along with 23,000 homes. The site is about 60 miles north of Los Angeles on the Kern County border near the junction of Interstate 5 and Highway 138. Tejon and its partners have formed a joint venture called Centennial Founders. Besides Tejon Ranch Co., the partners are Lewis Investment Co., Pardee Homes and Standard Pacific Homes.

The Tejon Ranch is also the site of the Tejon Industrial Complex, comprising nearly 1,500 acres, at the intersection of Interstate 5 and State Highway 99, approximately 65 miles north of Los Angeles. The industrial park is being developed by Tejon Ranch with capital partners that include the California State Teachers Retirement System (CalSTRS) and DP Partners, a Reno, NV-based national industrial developer.
