Desert Mesa Holdings LLC of Arizona paid $30,000 above the $1.3-million asking price for the 3515 S. Winchester Blvd. property, beating out at least four other prospective buyers during 90 days on the market, Rob Stephens with Cushman & Wakefield of Arizona Inc., tells GlobeSt.com. He says the buyer was planning to build a new facility on land that it owned, but realized it was cheaper to buy an existing building in an area closer to the mining operation it serves.

The five-year-old building, which features interior crane ways, steel fabrication and heavy power will be occupied by Western Industrial Resources Corp., which is owned by one of the buyers. The firm previously was located at 2236 N. Rico Circle in Mesa.

Stephens represented the seller, Sam Ludwig, whose Metaltrade firm recently went out of business. The buyer was assisted by Marc Pierce and Stein Koss, both with Lee & Associates Arizona Inc.
