Developer Steve Ellman expects to break ground on the first phase of Westgate City Center in April under a development plan that will bring a 20-screen, 4,000-seat Loews Cineplex along with a 15,000-sf Virgin music and book store and at least six restaurants and bars to the arena site at 91st and Glendale avenues. Once completed in six to eight years, the multi-million-dollar complex is expected to have as much as 6.5 million sf of entertainment, retail ,office and hotel space along with a residential component.
Among the tenants lined up for the three-block site are a Mastro's steak and seafood restaurant plus a 20,000-sf to 25,000-sf entertainment bar and restaurant that will feature games and "rock 'n roll" bowling. Also on board is Martini Ranch, a trendy nightclub with venues in Scottsdale, San Diego and Encinitas, CA, and a Thaifoon restaurant specializing in Asian cuisine.
