The Rapid Park site is located behind the Target Center on the northwest edge of Downtown. The proposal doesn't include a financing plan for the ballpark. The site is recommended because council members like its existing parking and transportation access.

This resolution now allows Minneapolis Community Planning and Economic Development director Lee Sheehy to present a site proposal recommending the Rapid Park site to the governor's Stadium Screening Committee on Jan. 15. He will recommend that the Metrodome be renovated for the Vikings.

Minneapolis cannot spend more than $10 million on a sports structure without a citywide referendum.
