Miranda was president and CEO of MB Real Estate before becoming vice chairman of a company Ricker helped create as a result of New York-based Douglas Elliman Commercial's 1998 acquisition of Miglin-Beitler. Before joining MB Real Estate, Miranda launched two companies, including the $1.3-billion Security Capital Preferred Growth.

Along with Miranda's move to HSA Commercial Real Estate, chairman Jack Shaffer is set to yield CEO duties to Robert Smietana, who also becomes vice chairman after serving as president and COO. Miranda's assignment: new management and consulting assignments, as well as financing, acquisition, property management and development of office, industrial and mixed-use properties.

"Dan Miranda is a major talent in commercial real estate and his diversified experience, encompassing real estate finance, development, leasing and management, is an excellent fit for HSA Commercial's full-service business model," Shaffer says. "Dan will add value to HSA's already deep senior management team."

Miranda's move is the most recent of defections to HSA Commercial, which in recent years has added former Insignia/ESG Chicago industrial brokerage boss Tim Thompson, the Alter Group's Tom Boyle and John Wilson's 10-member team from Prime Group Realty Trust.

Ricker was chief executive officer of the Galbreath Co. before joining MB Real Estate.
