Dupont Centre was named in the category of buildings 100,000 sf to 249,000 sf in size. The award was presented to Dupont Centre's management firm, USAA Realty Co. Built in 1986, the 248,674-sf project is at 2201 and 2301 Dupont Dr. in Irvine. It is owned by Prime Real Estate Equities II LP, and, besides its class A office space, includes a four-story parking structure.

The 600,000-sf Ronald Reagan Federal Building and US Courthouse was cited in the government building category of the TOBYs and was presented to the project's owner, the US General Services Administration, which manages its own building. The Ronald Reagan Federal Building, at 411 W. Fourth St. in Santa Ana, was completed in 1999 and consists of an eight-story tower atop a two-story podium.

The awards were presented in a ceremony during BOMA Orange County's annual awards dinner and dance, at the newly renovated Balboa Bay Club.

The celebration commemorated BOMA's 20 years in Orange County commercial real estate industry. The honors are based on three levels of judging, which include all facets of a building's operations such as tenant relations programs, community involvement, emergency preparedness, security standards and continuing educational programs for personnel. Each category is judged and given scores as outlined by the procedures established by BOMA International. Judging at the local level includes a comprehensive property tour and review of a property portfolio containing information on the building operations. The Building Owners and Managers Association International created the TOBY awards in 1985 to recognize excellence in office, industrial, government and medical building management.
