CHICAGO-A June 2003 fire at 538 N. Milwaukee Ave. forces Royal Industries to find a new home at 4100 W. Victoria St. in the Knox Industrial Corridor. The company gets $4.5 million in industrial revenue bonds and a Cook County Class 6(b) property tax incentive.

The restaurant chair and barstool maker worked out of a four-story, 24,000-sf building on a 6,300-sf lot at 538 N. Milwaukee Ave. until it was damaged by a fire in June.

The city reports $16 million in Class 6(b) tax incentives were used by Chicago businesses last year to help finance $44 million of investments in their properties.
