Stack says he plans to continue the "balanced housing policy" initiative of the Washington, D.C.-based NHMC, which represents the interests of leading apartment firms in the United States. The NHMC initiative aims to alter public policy that, in the words of the industry group, "almost exclusively encourages home ownership and often overlooks how important rental housing is for healthy, vibrant cities and communities." The new chairman notes that nearly a third of Americans rent their housing. Sares-Regis Group is a developer, manager and builders of commercial and residential real estate in the Western United States. The company has acquired or developed approximately 36 million sf of commercial properties and 18,000 housing units since its inception. It manages more than 12,000 apartment units and 15 million sf of commercial real estate.
