Movie Theater in Suburbs to Expand

CHESTERFIELD TOWNSHIP, MI-The township has signed off on the addition of four auditoriums to MJR's 12-screen cinema here, along with upgrades to the theater's lobby.

In addition to the four new auditoriums, the cinema's lobby will be expanded by 2,000 sf to provide inside waiting space for patrons during busy show times. The concession area will be renovated and two new ticket kiosks will be added.

The cinema, on Gratiot at 23 Mile Road, first opened in May 1995. The following year, its 12 auditoriums were retrofitted with stadium seating. MJR Theater's six Detroit-area cinemas have a total of 87 screens.
