Attorney Richard Klawiter reports the anchor retail tenant, Whole Foods, has signed a lease. Whole Foods will occupy 40,000 sf on the ground floor of a five-story building. The 136 condominiums, which Klairmont says will be priced near $250 per sf, will be built in two buildings—-61 units in five stories above the Whole Foods store and 75 more in a six-story building.
A business planned development allowing Klairmont to build his project on the 2.9-acre site was endorsed last week by the plan commission. City council approval of the project to be built in the upscale Sauganash neighborhood is expected.
The site once included a banquet hall, which has since been leveled in preparation for development. Klairmont's Imperial Realty Co.'s portfolio includes an office building on the southwest corner of Cicero and Peterson avenues.
Property records show Klairmont acquired the site in two steps-—in April 2000 and January 2001—-paying a combined $5.1 million.
