Among them is the Wilt Chamberlain Memorial Fund, which provided $1 million for a computer auditorium. Project HOME, a local group that provides services for the homeless, launched the facility. It contains 255 computers and provides classes for young children to become "users" of technology and others that stress "technology creation," such as video production, web design, and computer programming for older children and adults. There are also art and music programs that include digital photography and opportunities to compose music on computers.

Meanwhile, an unrelated facility, West Philadelphia Enterprise Center, a Magic Johnson/HP Inventor Center, opens this week at 4548 Market St. It is one of more than a dozen such centers nationwide, funded by the Magic Johnson Foundation and Hewlett-Packard Co. Philadelphia's opens under the auspices of the National Association for Multi-Ethnicity in Communication.
