The RealShare Multi Family Investment & Finance, like other conferences in the RealShare series, intends to blend networking, relaxation and valuable industry information into the annual event, which gets underway April 28 with an 18-hole invitational golf tournament at Arizona Biltmore Country Club to set a relaxed stage for a focused, information-driven agenda.

"The multifamily market is still red hot and not showing many signs of slowing down," Jonathan A. Schein, president and CEO of the New York City-based Real Estate Media. "Along these lines, there is still so much opportunity in this arena that we feel it's the appropriate time to enter this market in our menu of conference events."

The first day is topped off with "An Evening with Fannie and Freddie" as John Powell, vice president of Fannie Mae, and Jack Leighton, regional director of Freddie Mac, step up to the dais for a thought-provoking discussion about the multifamily lending market.

Day 2 kicks off with opening comments by Real Estate Media's Schein followed by keynote speaker, Stuart J. Boesky, CEO of CharterMac, chairman of PW Funding Inc. and managing director of Related Capital Co. Boesky's "views from the top" will delve into issues certain to impact the multifamily industry this year: affordable markets, changing interest rates and the upcoming presidential election.

The fast-paced morning session turns to "The Economy and the Apartment Investment Market--The Next Chapter." In the spotlight will be Marcus & Millichap's managing director and "research guru" Hessam Nadji, who will tell what it will take to bring back renter demand plus discuss investments and the impact from any corrections in the sector's fundamentals.

The morning sessions include a town hall meeting, moderated by Jeff Hawks with Apartment Realty Advisors. Sharing the podium will be Harvey Green, president of Marcus & Millichap, and J.P. Rachmaninoff, director of acquisitions and dispositions for Henderson Global Investors. Next up will be "Private Clients and Capital Buyers: The Hidden Force Behind the Market," an insightful overview from a panel of leading executives from Sperry Van Ness, Barker Apartments, CWS Capital Partners, Creekstone Partners, Granite Investment Group and Sterling American Property Inc. The morning ends with 50 minutes of concurrent breakout sessions targeting the multifamily finance wars and bankruptcies and foreclosures.

Michael G. Desiato, Real Estate Media's group managing director, takes center stage to cap off a networking luncheon with a one-on-one interview with Doug Bibby, president of the National Multi-Housing Council. The interview, a hallmark of RealShare conferences, is designed to get the inside track from a leading expert who's been there, done that and accrued accolades for his accomplishments. Bibby's "view from the top" will focus on the state of the multifamily market after the upside-down environment of the past few years, thoughts about the industry at large and perspectives through the eyes of a Washington insider.

The afternoon is a mix of concurrent sessions that probe buying and selling strategies of REITs, pension funds and institutional investors; capital markets and structured finance; outlooks for leasing, investment and development in Phoenix multifamily properties; and the tenants-in-common marketplace.

Robert White, president of Real Capital Analytics, rounds out the day's events with an insightful and informative presentation about today's multifamily investments and trends to watch this year and next.

"The conference is part of a concerted effort and approach on behalf of Real Estate Media overall to engage with the multifamily industry along with increased coverage in Real Estate Forum and the introduction of the Multi-Housing Forum newsletter," Richard Kelley, conference series director says, adding that many attendees will use the opportunity to "wrap some business into the conference" while they're in town. The registration deadline is April 26.
