"We explored numerous spaces around greater Lansing but nothing had the unique character of this historic Old Town building," says Rick Coy, a Clark Hill attorney in Lansing. "The location enables us to add new benefits for our clients, and it will give us an important advantage in recruiting the best attorneys to join Clark Hill in Lansing."
Originally constructed as a mill in 1846, the building is the oldest industrial building in Lansing, and is registered on the National Register of Historic Places.
In April 2001, Lansing received a $667,000 grant from the state's Clean Michigan Initiative Waterfront Redevelopment Program. The grant funded significant public improvements adjacent to the building, including a natural stone patio, seating areas and decorative ironwork. Over the last two years, the city has worked with local developers to complete public improvements and building renovations.
