Carrying the address of 3205 Plaza Way, the pad site was developed back in 1982 and has since always had an owner separate from that of Charles County Plaza, which is part of Combined Properties' portfolio. The shopping center itself, which will soon boast such tenants as Linens 'N Things and Pier 1, is currently undergoing a massive renovation that will leave it with a 71,000-sf Giant Food store as its anchor.
JBG Rosenfeld Retail is Sakura's exclusive representative and arranged the purchase of the property. "The increased space will allow Sakura to capitalize on its goal to provide a unique and pleasant dining experience, as the notion behind the concept is to provide great food, while showcasing Japanese cuisine as a form of art and entertainment," JBGR vice president Bob Schwenger explains. The new Sakura site is expected to open its doors later this summer.
