The center will have approximately 500,000 sf of retail space.
Taubman Centers says it is looking at building a lifestyle center at M-59 and Romeo Plank in Clinton Township, Simon adds. The company owns and operates 31 shopping malls, including Twelve Oaks Mall in Novi, Great Lakes Crossing in Auburn Hills and Fairlane Town Center in Dearborn.
"We have not officially decided to move forward in Clinton Township, but we are talking to the land owners there," Simon says. "It's very preliminary. But nothing has derailed us in getting a lifestyle center built in Commerce Township."
Simon plans to market the Commerce Township project to potential tenants this month at the International Council of Shopping Centers convention in Las Vegas, which typically draws 30,000 store owners, mall developers and retail brokers.
