Both open-air shopping center projects are about 40 miles southwest of Downtown Atlanta. Locally based Forum Development Group is developing Forum at Newnan Crossing. CBL & Associates Properties Inc. of Chattanooga, TN is putting up Village at Newnan Crossing.
Brokers tell GlobeSt.com the switch-in-plans by Consolidated Theaters was confirmed by that company's representatives at last week's International Council of Shopping Centers convention in Las Vegas. Forum at Newnan Crossing is off Interstate 85 at Bullsboro Drive. Village at Newnan Crossing is off Interstate 85 and south of the GA 34 interchange in Coweta County.
Brokers tell GlobeSt.com area developer Stan Thomas of Smyrna, GA-based Thomas Enterprises Inc. is guiding the Forum at Newnan Crossing project. At the same time, Thomas and Forum Development are also planning another open-air shopping center, Forum-Alpharetta, on a 90-acre site at the northwest corner of GA 400 and Old Milton Parkway in north Fulton County, as GlobeSt.com previously reported. Forum-Alpharetta is planned for 800,000 sf of specialty retail space.
CBL's Village at Newnan Crossing is still tentatively scheduled to open in 2005, area brokers following that project tell GlobeSt.com. The venture has been in the planning stage since 1996, CBL previously confirmed to GlobeSt.com. The Tennessee-based developer scaled back plans in September 2003, notifying the Georgia Regional Transportation Authority the shopping center would have no major anchors when it opens. The project had originally planned to have five national tenants as anchors, GlobeSt.com previously reported.
