Stroup is former CEO of Swiss Re Life & Health America Inc., a subsidiary of the Swiss Re Group, where his duties included life and health reinsurance business activities for the Swiss Re Group in the US and Canada. He also was on Swiss Re Group's executive board. Before joining Swiss Re, Stroup, a certified public accountant, was a partner with Ernst & Young LLP.
Stroup received a bachelor's degree in economics from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, and he received a master's in business administration from Columbia University.
Gables Residential's board of trustees consists of seven members, six of them independent. Gables Residential manages, develops, acquires and constructs luxury, multifamily communities in high-job-growth markets. The company managed 46,874 apartment homes in 183 communities, including 84 communities that it owns, and has seven more communities with 1,966 apartment homes under development or lease-up.
