Kerr Industries Ltd. of Oshawa, signing a five-year lease, will open doors July 1 on ready-to-go industrial space at 950 West Freeway in the Grand Prairie section of the Great Southwest Industrial District, about a mile from GM's Arlington plant, Frank G. Jester II of Dunn Commercial LP in Arlington tells GlobeSt.com. Kerr's parking requirement for 150 Tahoe SUVs plus the workforce limited the choices on both sides of the Great Southwest line, says the broker in charge of the search.

The location decision went to a three-tenant building in Heller Industrial Park, owned by Fred Kurtz of Edison, NJ. "It was the most competitive rate in town," Jester says. The quoted rent is hovering $1.50 per sf. Kerr will ramp up the site with about a dozen employees, who will be outfitting Tahoes with accessories for police and fire departments.
