Westcor owns the mostly vacant mall that it renamed as Twenty Ninth Street and plans to redevelop it into an urban village. The new headquarters on Mitchell Lane will house about 275 employees.
Wild Oats was worried that it would be unable to remain in Boulder. "We're delighted that the innovative Twenty Ninth Street retail development will provide us with the opportunity to continue to call Boulder home," says Perry Odak, president and chief executive officer of Wild Oats.
In addition, it plans to build a flagship store of at least 35,000 sf on the site. The new Boulder store will be similar to a store it opened in Superior, along the US 36 corridor outside of Boulder. "The development planned for Twenty Ninth Street gives us the opportunity to build a state-of-the-art flagship store in our hometown of Boulder," Odak says.
