The seller was Blythe House, based in Tinton Falls. Terms of the sale, including the sale price, were not disclosed. The two properties will be renamed Chelsea Senior Living at Tinton Falls and Manalapan. Each of the two facilities currently houses about 40 residents.
"Aside from the name changes, both facilities will continue to operate as they did before they were purchased," according to Roger Bernier, president and COO of Chelsea Senior Living. "However, we plan to increase the occupancy rate at the two buildings, which are now at about 60%.
"We plan to build on the success of Blythe House, to raise and stabilize the number of residences," Bernier continues. "There seemed to be a natural fit between the two locations and the existing Chelsea Senior Living facilities."
Other Garden State facilities operated by Chelsea Senior Living, which is a unit of the locally based Chelsea Management Group, are located in East Brunswick, Fanwood, Warren and Montville. The two New York facilities are in Plainview and Forest Hills.
