The sales of city-owned lots located near the Chicago Transit Authority's California Avenue and Kedzie Avenue Green Line stops could net the city more than $1.1 million. Appraisals have set the target prices between $9.50 per sf to $11 per sf for the sites, which fell under the city's old R-4 zoning. Some of the parcels are zoned for manufacturing use. The sites are as small as 1,900 sf, which would allow a building less than 2,280 sf under R-4 zoning, to a 7,200-sf parcel at 2919 W. Fulton St. The city is seeking $68,000 for that lot, which could accommodate an 8,640-sf building under R-4 zoning. Eleven more parcels, totaling 41,298 sf, are available in the 2900 block of W. Fulton St.

A request for proposals was approved earlier this summer by the community development commission, and bids are due Sept. 20. Developers may bid on one parcel or combinations.
