HOUSTON-An international brake systems manufacturer has tapped 12,244 sf of industrial space in East Houston, striking a five-year lease for its only Texas location. Move-in is set for Oct. 1.

Haldex Brake Systems, part of the Stockholm-based Haldex Group, will relocate its friction center from 1032 Lathrop St. to 8811 Wallisville Rd. The new location, about three miles to the northeast, is slightly larger than the soon-to-be-vacated address, says a Grubb & Ellis broker familiar with the transaction.

John Nicholson with Grubb & Ellis Co.'s Houston office and Ed Elder with Grubb & Ellis/Winbury Group of St. Louis ran the deal for the tenant. The local building owner, Pinemont GPI Ltd., used an in-house broker to negotiate its terms for the newest tenant in the two-building development with 163,269 sf.

Haldex Commercial Vehicle Systems North America, headquartered in Kansas City, MO, is a supplier of air brakes and suspension systems for the heavy vehicle market. The Houston location is one of 14 friction centers in the US.
