SCOTTSDALE, AZ-Shea Hospital, owned by Scottsdale Healthcare, will undergo an expansion and remodeling of the endoscopy unit. The project will take four months to complete.

Phoenix-based Summit Builders Construction Co. will begin work later this month on the 242-bed facility at 9003 E. Shea Blvd. Neither Summit or Shea officials would disclose the cost of the project.

The project involves expanding and renovating the endoscopy area, including procedure rooms, nurses stations, waiting areas, recovery space, storage areas and lounges. Synectic Design Inc., of Scottsdale, is the project architect; Phoenix-based Smith, Seckman, Reid, Inc. is the design engineer.

The project represents the fifth one that Summit has performed for Scottsdale Healthcare. Work has just wrapped up on the healthcare group's birthing suites for the 321-bed Osborn hospital at 7400 E. Osborn St. and two medical office buildings on its 20-acre Thompson Peak medical campus at 7400 E. Thompson Peak Parkway.
